You don't have to be a runner to get out and finish long runs. Everyone has to start somewhere. Just get out there and work hard; you'll see results before you know it.
Why I run: I run primarily to stay in shape. Increased endurance is a huge advantage in sports, in addition to just feeling better every single day. I am motivated primarily by friends that will make fun of me if I don't get out for my scheduled runs.
How I heard about the AC Marathon: One day in July 2010, I decided that I wanted to run a marathon, and that there's no time like the present. I went out for my first run in years (made it about three miles), then came home and searched online for local marathons.
Found Atlantic City, 13 weeks away. Convinced a buddy (what a sucker) to do the same, and we trained the next 13 weeks and made it through the marathon (side note - don't do this; it's not enough training. It was dumb.).
Trained much longer and smarter the next year and really enjoyed the half marathon. Looking forward to the April Fools Half this year.
